Options for Van Delivery
and Pickup of Library Materials
Public Library Drop
All NSLS public libraries receive regularly scheduled van delivery service. Arrange to use the NSLS public library in your community as your drop-off point. Your library must contact the public library and make arrangements.
Scheduled Direct Delivery
Your library may schedule direct van delivery if your delivery needs are consistent.
On Request Delivery
On request delivery service is for all NSLS members not receiving scheduled direct delivery who have inconsistent delivery needs. Call (847) 459-1375 to request a pickup.
Pickup Request Deadline
Calls for on request pickups must be no later than 4 p.m. each day. Public libraries and those on other scheduled direct delivery services need not call to schedule deliveries.
Please note: Limit of one on request delivery drop point per membership. Members with multiple libraries, such as school districts, must choose one site for pickups and deliveries.
Damaged Materials Policy
NSLS Delivery takes great care to protect delivery material while in transit. In April 2000, when we stopped reimbursing for reciprocal borrowing, we also rescinded the lost/damaged on van provision and informed affected libraries. If properly prepared and handled, damage to delivery items should be kept to a minimum; however, if an item is damaged, both the lending and borrowing library will be informed. We do not reimburse for damaged material.
