Library Expansion

On May 22, Cook Memorial Public Library District’s Board of Trustees approved a plan to expand the library district by 30,000 square feet without a tax increase. The expansion will include a new, full-service library in Vernon Hills and a 10,000 square foot addition and renovation to the district’s main library in Libertyville. With the expansion, the library district will be able to offer meeting rooms, group study spaces, reading lounges, a screened-in porch, computer labs, a drive-through window, and even a coffee shop. The expansion project is expected to cost $12 million and to be completed by 2009. More info.
