Members' Corner

January 2005

Keep up on the achievements of your colleagues. Member's Corner will publish the first Friday of each month.

In Print

Ever wonder why Northbrook Public Library Director Chad Raymond chose to become a librarian? Or how William Shakespeare played a part in Patti Kuhl making her mark in charge of Information Resources at Hewitt Associates? You can read all about it in The Librarian's Career Guidebook edited by Priscilla K. Shontz (Scarecrow Press, 2004). Raymond and Kuhl are featured, along with NSLS members Carol Bartlett, Frances Roehm, Judith Mayzel and ISL deputy director Mike Ragen in the opening chapter, "Why Be a Librarian?" penned by NSLS Director Sarah Long. Articles by 63 information professionals offer advice to prospective librarians, MLS students, and librarians in various stages of their careers.

Recognition

Frances Roehm, Skokie Public Library, was recognized for her valuable contributions to voters by Cook County Clerk David Orr. The Clerk's office held a special recognition program for people and organizations that made significant efforts for voter registration in 2004.
