Events Home » Classes and EventsIllinois Library DayThursday, April 10, 2008 Join colleagues from across Illinois as they gather in Springfield to meet with legislators and give voice to libraries' needs. Illinois Library Day is an annual event that brings representatives from libraries of all types to the state capitol. The day involves meetings with individual legislators, as well as rallies at the Capitol Building, an orientation breakfast, and more. The event is sponsored by the Illinois Library Association, the Illinois School Library Media Association, the Illinois Library System Directors Organization, the Illinois Special Libraries Association, and the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois, and is hosted by the Illinois State Library. The 2008 Illinois Library Day will be held on Thursday, April 10. For general Illinois Library Day information, including a schedule of events, visit http://www.illinoislibraryday.info. Registration Registration is handled by the Illinois Library Association. The registration form is included in the February 2008 issue of The ILA Reporter, and is posted on the ILA site. Transportation NSLS is once again providing bus transportation to Springfield for our members. Details about the bus are posted on the NSLS events calendar. Take a survey about the NSLS bus trip. Additional bus transportation options can be arranged with the DuPage Library System. Dining and Orientations Dinner — The DuPage Library System is hosting a Strategy Session & Dinner the night before Library Day, on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is open to all Illinois Library Day participants. Cost: $35 Breakfast — The Illinois Library Association is hosting an Orientation Breakfast the morning of Library Day, April 10 at 7:30 a.m. Registration for the Breakfast can be found on the ILA registration form. Cost: $10 Lunch — Boxed lunches are provided by the Illinois Library Association. Lunches can be ordered on the ILA registration form. Cost: $10 Rally and Presentations Plans call for participants to gather at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and march en masse to the Lincoln statue on the east side of the state capitol building for a rally reaturing speeches from library leaders. Participants will be carrying signs, umbrellas, foam fingers, noise makers, and banners. Lodging A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the State House Inn and the Northfield Inn in Springfield. Reservations can be made on the DuPage Library System events calendar:
