Obtaining feedback from the Illinois library community is an important part of developing the new system standards. When drafts are available, they are posted on the WebJunction Illinois website (http://il.webjunction.org/home). The Illinois library community is encouraged to read the drafts and comment. Your feedback is taken into consideration during the process.

The first step in this process is to visit the WebJunction Illinois website and either sign into the site or create an account in the upper right section of the website. It is important to be signed into the site, as you will not be allowed to comment until you do. A link to create a new account is located under the Sign In button.

Once you are signed into the site, click on "Illinois Center" in the navigation bar near the top of the site. Next, click on "Library Systems" in the Illinois Libraries section of the page.

From here, choose the "Documents" tab in the center of the page. This will display all available documents pertaining to Library Systems. Determine which document you would like to read. For the purposes of this example, I chose "Professional Development & Consulting Standards: final draft for discussion."

After reading the document, I need to go back to the Library Systems page where I can add my comments by clicking on the "Discussion" tab in the center of the page. This takes me to the list of threaded discussions where I can add my thoughts. There is a threaded discussion available for the Professional Development & Consulting Standards: final draft for discussion document. To read the current discussions on the topic, all I need to do is click on the title. Keep in mind that the most current discussion posts are at the bottom, so you will need to scroll through the page.

When I am ready to add my thoughts, I click on the "Reply" link, which is off to the right side of the page within the discussion posts.

Next, I can type my message in the text box. Some formatting is available and I can also insert emoticons if I'd like. When I am satisfied with my message, it is a good idea to preview it in order to proofread and scan for any other possible errors. The preview button is below the text box.

When I am satisfied with my message, I click the "Save" button near the top of the preview screen.

And that's it! I'm ready to go back and read more documents and post to more discussions.
