Advocacy Relationship Project

The Illinois library community created an advocacy relationship project to keep library issues in front of our legislators while building personal relationships. Each of the nine regional library systems recruited advocates who were constituents of their assigned legislator to visit legislators several times during the year and stay in touch every month.

How it Works

Nine cards, each relating to the theme "I (Heart) Illinois Libraries," were produced. Each card addresses an area of library service, tells a mini story about an Illinois library, and contains a library fact or statistic.

Advocates are asked to deliver at least four of the cards in person; the rest can be mailed.
