Illinois Library Day

Friday, April 16, 2010

Join your colleagues from across the state for a local Illinois Library Day on Friday, April 16. This year, rather than convening in Springfield and visit our legislators at the Capitol, the Illinois Library Association is inviting library representatives from across the state to pay a visit to their legislators' home offices to bring the critical message of support for library issues.

Registration
Because Illinois Library Day is a local event this year, there is no advanced registration required. However, if you are planning on participating this year, we do ask that you let us know! Contact Alan Minarik at NSLS to let him know you'll be joining the effort.

Information Packet
NSLS is providing a packet of legislative information and hand-outs to be used on Illinois Library Day. As components from the packet are assembled, they will be posted on this site for download.

Legislative Appointments
We ask that libraries schedule their own appointments with their local legislators. To ensure the most effective delivery of our message, however, we do ask that multiple libraries visiting the same legislator share appointment times and coordinate their messages in advance. To help with that, NSLS will be providing a way to track appointments and for attendees to keep track of each other.

This tracking form will be posted on this site, so be sure to check back. If you've already scheduled an appointment, or schedule one before the form goes up, we ask that you provide the information of that appointment to Alan Minarik at NSLS.
