The story of the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) knowledge management initiative is featured in the April 2004 issue of Association Management, the monthly journal of the American Society of Association Executives. The article, titled "Writing the Book on Knowledge," is authored by Christina Stoll, NSLS knowledge management specialist.

Stoll traces the project from beginning work with outside knowledge management experts to the successful launch of a number of NSLS initiatives serving staff operations and member services. NSLS began its work with knowledge management in 2002 in response to staff suggestions for better long term organization, retention and sharing of information and resources. Founded in 1920, the American Society of Association Executives ( www.asaenet.org ) advocates for the nonprofit sector, and currently represents approximately 10,000 associations serving more than 287 million people and companies worldwide.
