Library and Community Leaders Honored by

In recognition of exceptional
contributions to library service, library advocacy efforts and innovative
partnerships, the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) has announced
the winners of its 2003 Membership Awards. The award recipients will
be honored at the annual NSLS banquet on March 12 at Concorde Banquets
in Kildeer.
The DES PLAINES PUBLIC LIBRARY
has been recognized as Library of the Year. "The library's services
for diverse populations, as well as their fundraising and marketing
efforts, serve as models for libraries everywhere. Creatively melding
talent and strong community partnerships, the Des Plaines Public Library
demonstrates just how high a library can soar," says NSLS Director Sarah
Long.

North Suburban Library System is an organization of 650 academic, public,
school and special libraries in the north suburban area of Cook County
and communities in Kane, Lake and McHenry counties. It is one of 12
library systems in Illinois, funded through the Illinois State Library,
