The North Suburban Library System
online Annual Report has won the Silver 2003 Summit Award. The Summit
Creative Awards recognize exceptional work of smaller creative companies
throughout the world. The annual report was submitted by Suchta Design,
which collaborated with System staff on the first-time effort.
The FY 2002 report was issued
solely as an electronic document, using Macromedia Flash software. The
report includes an audio message from North Suburban Library System
(NSLS) Director Sarah Long.
"In our quest to effectively
tell the library story, we regularly look to the corporate sector for
insights into what's hot and what sells," says Sarah Long. "The commercial
sector mirrors the library sector, or visa versa. People are clamoring
to the Internet for quick access to information and services. 2002 was
the year NSLS consciously went "E" or electronic. Our members libraries
let us know that they want 24/7 access, and going E makes that a reality."
The Summit Creative Awards, which
began in 1994 have grown consistently over the years, with last year's
competition receiving more than 3,000 entries. More information about
the awards can be found at www.summitawards.com.
Headquartered in
Wheeling, Illinois, the North Suburban Library System is an organization
of 650 academic, public, school and special libraries in the northern
Chicago suburbs. The NSLS Annual Report is available at www.nsls.info/about/annual_report.html.
