Library and Community Leaders Honored by
Library System

In recognition of exceptional
contributions to library service, library advocacy efforts and innovative
partnerships, the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) has announced
the winners of its 2002 Membership Awards. The award recipients will
be honored at the annual NSLS banquet on March 21 at the Northbrook
Hilton. Chicago Tribune Deputy Managing Editor James Warren will be
the guest speaker.
In addition to NSLS member
libraries and staff, U.S. Senator Richard Durbin has been recognized
as Legislator of the Year. "Senator Durbin has put the spotlight on
the importance of reading in early childhood education with regular
visits to Illinois school and public libraries. His support and enthusiasm
inspires and energizes Illinois libraries," says NSLS Director Sarah
Long.

public, school and special libraries in the north suburban area of Cook
County and communities in Kane, Lake and McHenry counties. It is one
