Library Leaders Honored by North Suburban Library System

In recognition of exceptional contributions to library service, library advocacy efforts, and innovative partnerships, the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) honored the winners of its 2008 Membership Awards on Friday, March 14 at the Cotillion Banquets in Palatine.

“We had a record attendance for an unforgettable evening to celebrate our galaxy of library stars,” said Sarah Long, NSLS executive director. “What all the award nominees have in common is a commitment to providing the most robust, creative, and high quality library service possible.”

Staff and trustees of NSLS member libraries submitted award nominations and chose the winners through online voting.

Following are the eight award winners honored at the 2008 NSLS Membership Awards Banquet:

Library of the Year : Lake County Discovery Museum Library, WAUCONDA

 

Lifetime Achievement : Eugenia Bryant, Glenview Public Library, GLENVIEW

Trustee of the Year : Kathy Caudill, Ela Area Public Library District, LAKE ZURICH

Innovation Award : Gail Borden Public Library District, ELGIN

Academic Library Staff Member : Jane Malik, Oakton Community College, DES PLAINES

Public Library Staff Member : Vivian Mortensen, Park Ridge Public Library, PARK RIDGE

School Library Staff Member : Erin Wyatt, Highland Middle School, LIBERTYVILLE

Special Library Staff Member : Mary Vogel, Chicago Botanic Garden, GLENCOE
